Can I import my TV Time comments too?

Yes, if you saved your TV Time GDPR export: Episodely imports the comments you wrote, under the right episode or show and with their original date. Other people's comments aren't there, because the export doesn't contain them.

How to do it

  1. Find the ZIP. You need the GDPR export, the archive TV Time sent on request before it shut down on July 15, 2026. No need to unzip it: upload the .zip file as it is.
  2. Upload it to Episodely. Sign in and pick the file from the import in Home or Settings. Your watched episodes, rewatches and ratings come along with the comments.
  3. Find your comments. Once the import finishes, they're under the episodes and shows you wrote them on, with their original date and the GIF, if you attached one.
  4. Read the summary. If a show can't be matched to a catalog entry, its comments stay out and the import summary counts them.

What it doesn't do

It doesn'tWhy, and what happens instead
Bring back other people's commentsThe export only holds yours. Comments come back for whoever uploads their own export, not the TV Time community archive.
Import your replies in other people's threadsThey answered comments the export doesn't contain, so they'd arrive without context. Only top-level comments come in.
Read comments from Liberator or TV Time OutOnly the official GDPR export carries them. The other formats import your history, not your comments.
Recover an export you didn't saveTV Time shut down and its export portal is no longer reachable: you start from a file you already have.
Keep text longer than 2,000 charactersA longer comment is cut to 2,000 characters, the limit for every comment on Episodely.

Frequently asked questions

Who sees my imported comments?

They're your comments, like the ones you write on Episodely: other users read them under the episode or show, episode comments stay hidden from people who haven't watched it yet, and you can delete them one by one.

If I upload the same file again, do comments double up?

No. A comment already there on the same show and episode, with the same text, isn't written a second time.

Do comments land on the right episode?

TV Time exported episodes with TVDB numbering: the import realigns it to Episodely's catalog before writing the comment.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Importing and exporting your data are free.
