A tracker that numbers anime the way the show does

Episodely shows the episode's absolute number, the one the show uses (E414), next to the season and episode. You'll find it in the Anime section of your library, on the web and in the Android app.

How it works

  1. Bring the anime in. Search for it and add it to your library, or import your TV Time export: the export's numbering is realigned to TMDB, where Episodely gets its data.
  2. Open the Anime section. In your library, switch to the Anime section: it holds the Japanese, Korean and Chinese animated shows you follow.
  3. Read the next episode. Each show's next episode to watch carries the absolute number in front of the season and episode code, for example E414 · S20E1.
  4. Mark it as watched. Once you mark it as watched, the count moves to the next one. If TMDB already numbers a season in absolute terms (episodes start at 137 instead of 1), Episodely follows it and doesn't restart from 1.

What it doesn't do

It doesn'tWhy, and what happens instead
Change seasons and episodes on the show pageThe show page follows TMDB's structure. The absolute number shows up on the show in your library, in the Anime section.
Make up a number when data is missingWithout TMDB's season structure the absolute number doesn't appear: you get the season and episode code only.
Count specialsSeason 0 episodes stay out of the count.
Treat every cartoon as animeAnime means animation from Japan, Korea or China, plus a short curated list. A Pixar film or a European animated show stays with shows and movies.
Guess when the export doesn't line upIf the TV Time export's numbering can't be realigned with certainty, the import leaves it alone instead of moving your watched episodes onto the wrong ones.

Frequently asked questions

Do I still see season and episode?

Yes. The absolute number is added to the season and episode code, it doesn't replace it: E414 · S20E1.

Does it work for anime imported from TV Time?

Yes. TV Time exported episodes with TVDB numbering; the import realigns them to TMDB's structure, and from there the absolute number works like any other show's.

Why is there no absolute number on one of my shows?

Because TMDB doesn't have its full season structure yet. In that case Episodely shows season and episode only, rather than a wrong number.

What does it cost?

Nothing. Basic use of Episodely is free and stays free, with no ads.
