How to do it

  1. Find your file. The GDPR export ZIP, TV Time Liberator JSON and the TV Time Out ZIP or CSV files all work. Upload the ZIP as it is, no need to unzip it.
  2. Upload it to Episodely. Sign in and pick the file from the import in Home or Settings. Shows, movies, watched episodes with their original date, rewatches and ratings come over.
  3. Find your comments. With the GDPR ZIP, the comments you wrote land back under the right episode or show, with their date.
  4. Read the summary. If a title can't be matched to a catalog entry with confidence, the import summary tells you instead of picking one at random.

What Episodely doesn't do

It doesn'tWhy, and what happens instead
Bring back other people's commentsThe export only holds yours. Comments come back for whoever uploads their own export, not the TV Time community archive.
Recover an export you didn't saveTV Time's export portal is no longer reachable: you start from a file you already have.
Run as an app on iPhoneThere's an Android app today. On iPhone and iPad you use Episodely in the browser, and you can add it to your Home Screen.
Mark episodes on its own while you watchIt doesn't connect to Netflix, Plex or Kodi: you mark the episode as watched yourself.

Frequently asked questions

Is Episodely connected to TV Time?

No. It's an independent project, started by a TV Time user who wanted his library back. It has no access to TV Time's servers: it reads the file you upload.

Which file should I upload?

The GDPR export ZIP, if you have it: it's the most complete, and it carries your comments too. Liberator and TV Time Out bring your history.

Can I take my data elsewhere later?

Yes. You can export your library from Episodely whenever you like, and delete your account and data at any time.

What does it cost?

Basic use is free and stays free, importing and exporting your data included. Paid plans are announced but not active yet.
