Import your Letterboxd data into Episodely.tv

Cinematic catalog (movies only)

Letterboxd tracks feature films only. Importing into Episodely will populate the Movies section of your library (watched, rated, and watchlist). Star ratings (0.5 to 5.0) are doubled to map onto the 1–10 scale.

Export instructions

  1. Sign in to your account on letterboxd.com in your browser.
  2. Open your profile menu at top right and select Settings > Import & Export.
  3. Click 'Export your data' to instantly download the ZIP archive to your device.
  4. Sign in to Episodely and open the Import modal (from Home or Settings).
  5. Select the downloaded ZIP file (or individual extracted CSV files) to start importing.

What gets imported and what doesn't

Transfers

  • All films recorded in your diary (diary.csv) with logged dates
  • Rated films converted proportionally (0.5–5.0 scale -> 1–10)
  • Watchlist entries (watchlist.csv) saved as to-watch
  • Rewatch flags preserved as repeat views

Doesn't transfer

  • TV shows (Letterboxd does not track television series)
  • Written review text and custom tags
  • Custom thematic lists
  • Followers and community likes

Frequently asked questions

Are TV shows imported as well?

No. Letterboxd is strictly a movie-tracking platform. The import transfers all your films (watched, rated, and watchlist), leaving your TV show tracking unaffected.

How are star ratings converted?

Letterboxd star ratings (0.5 to 5.0 stars) are automatically scaled to Episodely's 1–10 scale by multiplying by 2 (e.g. 4 stars become 8/10, 4.5 stars become 9/10).

Are diary rewatches preserved?

Yes. Multiple diary entries for the same film marked with the Rewatch flag increase the film's rewatch counter on Episodely without generating duplicate records.

Can I upload the ZIP or individual CSV files?

Both: you can upload the full ZIP archive provided by Letterboxd or pick individual files such as diary.csv, ratings.csv, or watchlist.csv.
