Import your TV Time data into Episodely.tv

Still have your TV Time export ZIP or a third-party file? It still works. Here's how to bring your history into Episodely — episodes, rewatches, and ratings included.

What it costs: nothing. Importing and exporting your data are free, forever — no card to enter, no ads, no cap on how many shows you follow. Episodely's core is free and stays free: what you don't pay for today won't end up behind a paywall.

TV Time shut down on July 15, 2026

Since then, the gdpr.tvtime.com portal is no longer reachable: you can no longer request a new official export. But if you already downloaded the ZIP in the past, the file is still perfectly valid — you can import it whenever you like with the steps below.

Method A: GDPR ZIP (Recommended)

The official format, the one TV Time used to send on request: the most complete archive, comments and ratings included.

  1. Open the folder where you saved the archive: no need to unzip it, you can upload the .zip file exactly as downloaded.
  2. Sign in to Episodely (Home after you log in, or Settings → Your library) and pick the ZIP — several files at once is fine.
  3. The import keeps going on the server within minutes: watched episodes, rewatches, and movie status land automatically.
  4. Check your library once the import finishes. If something's missing, email support@episodely.tv with the account you used to request the export.

Never did the export and don't have the ZIP?

With the official portal offline, there's no verified way today to get a new export. If you still have the TV Time app installed on your phone, we're looking into a way to read data from its local cache — email support@episodely.tv to be notified once it's ready.

Method B: Liberator (JSON)

The .json file from the browser extension, if you had it installed: it holds your watched-show history, but not the ratings.

  1. Find the .json file previously generated by the "TV Time Liberator" browser extension on your computer.
  2. Upload it in Episodely the same way as the GDPR ZIP (Home or Settings, after you sign in).
  3. Your watched-show history gets imported. Third-party formats cover less data than the official export (for example, no ratings).

What gets imported and what doesn't

Transfers

  • Episodes marked as watched
  • Rewatches
  • Show and movie status (watching / finished)
  • Ratings (GDPR export only)

Doesn't transfer

  • Comments and social discussions posted on TV Time
  • Followers and following
  • Notifications and in-app history

Frequently asked questions

Does the ZIP file I downloaded months ago still work?

Yes. It's a static archive saved on your device: it stays valid forever and you can import it whenever you like — there's no expiry.

Can I import more than one file (e.g. the GDPR ZIP and a Liberator JSON)?

Yes — after you sign in, you can pick several files at once in Home or in Settings. Episodely merges the data and tries to avoid duplicates across sources.

Did TV Time really shut down?

Yes, on July 15, 2026. Since then the gdpr.tvtime.com portal used to request a new export is no longer reachable.

I only have the app installed on my phone and never did the export — can I still recover my data?

Not through a verified method right now. We're looking into a way to read data from the app's local cache — email support@episodely.tv to be notified when it's available.
