Frequently asked questions
How do I get my data export from Trakt?
Log in to trakt.tv, navigate to Settings > Data and click 'Export now'. Trakt will generate a downloadable ZIP archive or email you a download link.
Do I need to extract the ZIP before uploading?
No, you can directly upload the full .zip file (it contains watched-shows.json, watched-movies.json, ratings.json, watchlist.json). Episodely inspects and merges all relevant files.
Are rewatches and exact watch dates preserved?
Yes. Trakt exports UTC ISO dates and play counts. In Episodely, plays beyond the first are preserved as dedicated rewatch counts.
What happens to personal ratings?
Trakt uses a native 1–10 rating scale, identical to Episodely: your ratings for movies, shows, and episodes map directly without distortion.
