Delete your Episodely account
Two ways to ask, even without the phone the app is on, or without wanting to sign in at all: from the app itself, or by email.
1. From the app or the website, if you can sign in
Episodely is one account shared between the website and the app: you don't need the phone, just a browser at episodely.tv. Sign in, then go to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete account: you'll be asked to type the confirmation word the app shows you. Your account and its data are removed in the same moment — there's no trash to recover them from.
2. By email, if you don't want to or can't sign in
Write to support@episodely.tv from the address you registered with, asking to delete your account. We verify the email matches an existing account and delete it from our authentication provider (Supabase): the account and its database data — library, comments, notifications — are removed by the same automatic process as the in-app path. Files you uploaded (profile picture, comment images, your exports) we clear separately, by hand. We reply within one month, as required by GDPR — usually much sooner.
3. What goes away
Gone in the same moment: your profile and profile picture, shows, movies and watched episodes, lists and watchlist, comments and reactions, images attached to comments, follows and blocks, preferences and notifications, your import data, and your TV Time friend identifiers.
4. What stays, for how long, and why
- Other users' replies to your comments stay readable: your comment becomes an anonymous, empty placeholder (no name, no text) instead of disappearing — otherwise it would take other people's replies down with it.
- Bug reports you sent us lose their link to you right away, and stay for at most 12 months from submission, then get deleted automatically.
- Your waitlist email, if you joined before having an account, lives in a separate list and is untouched — write to support@episodely.tv and we'll remove it.
- A minimal internal record that the account was deleted: the account's ID, a one-way cryptographic fingerprint of the email (never the plain address), how much content you had (shows, episodes, movies, imports), and where the request came from. Not readable from any product interface — internal security audit only. It doesn't expire today.
- Pseudonymised usage events: the technical events about which screens you open (see section 2 of the Privacy Policy) remain after deletion, but lose your identifier — we assign them a random key that can't be traced back to you, and drop any free-text search query you may have typed. They don't expire today.
- Platform backups from our database host (Supabase) can still hold your data for up to 7 days: once the oldest backup is replaced by a new one, your data leaves that copy too. They aren't queryable from the product.
For your GDPR rights (access, correction, export, complaint) and details on who processes your data, see the Privacy Policy.
